SACSCOC Reaffirmation 2016

The University of Central Florida is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award degrees at the associate, baccalaureate, master’s, specialist, and doctoral levels. Every ten years, we engage in a campuswide process of seeking reaffirmation of that accreditation. At UCF, we believe that accreditation is an important adjudicator of educational quality. To be reaffirmed the university must demonstrate compliance with SACSCOC’s and develop a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The reaffirmation process ensures accountability and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing assessment and improvement in keeping with the university’s mission.

An off-site reaffirmation review committee comprised of faculty members and administrators from other SACSCOC-accredited institutions reviewed UCF’s Compliance Certification in March 2015. Additional documentation was requested after the committee’s review, and UCF submitted a Focused Report to SACSCOC in response to the request. An on-site reaffirmation review committee, also comprised of faculty members and administrators from other SACSCOC-accredited institutions, visited the UCF campus on April 25–28, 2016. The on-site committee reviewed the Focused Report submitted in response to the off-site committee’s request, evaluated and determined the acceptability of the QEP, visited UCF’s off-campus instructional sites, and met with students, faculty and staff members, and UCF’s administrative team. The on-site committee drafted a report of their findings and submitted it to SACSCOC’s board of trustees for review. At its annual meeting in December 2016, the SACSCOC board of trustees voted to reaffirm UCF with no follow-up actions required.
